Join The Louisiana Institute of Public Policy & Politics! The slideshow includes many highlights of our activities- CLICK ON THE LOGO ABOVE TO WATCH THE SLIDESHOW..

The Institute is a non-profit organization that gives participants an inside look at Louisiana government and poltics in an intimate, casual, non-academic setting. Due to the overwhelmingly positive response from the participants, we have decided to expand the membership and include a monthly "Opinion Leader Forum" and several social functions to compliment the quarterly seminar series. If you are interested in politics and government policy these events are 'must attend' activities.

Over the past year the Institute has hosted 3 seminar series: A Political Campaign Academy, A Public Policy Summit and an Advocacy & Issue Management Training Seminar Series. An annual membership in the Institute is $100. Includes email updates on all events, an invitation to member and one guest to all social functions and admission to the "Monthly Leadership Forum." Participation in each seminar series is $250 ($150 for Members) and includes participation in all events. Scholarship Sponsor participation is $500 which includes participation in all events and sponsorship of two students memberships and seminar training.

LOUISIANA INSTITUTE OF POLITICS 'CAMPAIGN ACADEMY'

The Louisiana Institute of Politics was formed as an educational tool for citizens interested in politics and public policy. This First 'Campaign Academy' serves as an opportunity for those individuals to learn more about the art and science of Louisiana politics in an intimate and hands on environment. The 'Academy' is intended to give participants a 'real life' take on the political process. It is not a purely academic exercize, but a practicle guide to running a political campaign. The 'Campaign Academy' sessions include instruction and discussion on every phase of political campaigning. Campaign Academy Schedule: Tuesday, September 7th, 14th, 21st & 28th.

The First Session (September 7, 2010 @ 6-9 pm)

The first night will feature several candidates including former Governors, other elected officials and will focus on the role of the candidate and their families in the election process.

The Second Session (September 14, 2010 @ 6-9 pm)

This session will be about the campaign organization, hiring staff, choosing consultants, fundraising, speech writing and media relations.

The third session will key on (opposition, policy and voting record) research, polling, targeting, the role of interest groups and the endorsement process.
